I am Jimmy Covas, 44, and I live in North Carolina. I'm currently active duty Army at Fort Bragg, NC, and have been in the service for close to 20 years.
I have been an athlete since high school, running Cross Country and Track. In 2015 I took up cycling due to an unfortunate injury with work. I used cycling to help me recover and get my legs strong again. From that point, I became a cycling enthusiast. I started racing Crits and road races. About three years ago, I started racing Duathlons in an effort to expand my racing abilities and for the love of running and cycling.
Last April 2019, I competed in the Duathlon National Championships in Greenville, SC, competing in the Non-Draft Sprint. I ended up finishing 5th in my age group and qualifying for 2020, but now the 2021 ITU Multisport World Championships. I have met some interesting and wonderful athletes through the sport, that keeps me wanting more and pushing myself more and more.
