I started triathlon 11 years ago, as a way to lose weight... at that time I was a 250 lbs couch potato who was told by his Dr. that I needed to start taking medicine due to very high cholesterol. Right then and there, i decided to change my life... I never filled that prescription. Instead, I signed up for a Sprint Triathlon, and for the next 5 months, I dieted and trained... by the race, i had lost 50 lbs, and had a blast.
I was hooked. I did 8 Sprints that first year. My 2nd year I did my first Olympic, plus two 70.3. In my 3rd year I did my first 2 Ironman... and from then on my goal was Kona!
10 years later, in 2019 I was luck enough to be able to realize a dream, and compete in the Ironman World Championship (an amazing experience). This is a great sport that has given me lots of joy and a whole new lifestyle... and I now try to give back and inspire others every day!
