Home Town Race

February 07, 2020 - This is my hometown race and it never disappoints

I have done this race every year for the past 6 years.  It was my first marathon and since it is where i was born and raised, it holds a special place in my heart.  The scenery is beautiful and the weather usually holds.  I alwasy love this race to start but it will alway kick my arse.

Was able to get a course PR by a minute but I felt strong all day.  Ran by power (see previous post about running power) despite the rolling hills of PCH.  The numbers speak for themselves.  Didn’t have the late race issues from the past (miles 6 and 11).  My legs were getting heavy at mile 12 but instead of walking, I decided to focus on form and loosen up.  Took the  focus away from what I was experiencing and placed it on something else.  Had enough in the tank (barely) to chase my buddy the final mile.
