May 13, 2019 - First triathlon - First age group win of the year
With a pool swim, this was the first triathlon of the year, following on the heels of a PR at the half marathon distance. Not much to tell... high winds cut down my hopes for a fast bike. Running with the wind, I averaged almost 27 mph. Coming back into it, at point I was pulling a steady 260 watts and hitting only about 16 mph on flat ground. The run went well. I could have hit it harder, but I knew I had my age group locked up, and since I'm just recently recovered from a knee problem, I didn't see the need to risk it. 13th overall out of over 100 entrants. At age 51, I'll take it.
